Absolwentka Wydziału Lekarskiego Uniwersytetu Medycznego w Łodzi. Obecnie pracuje klinicznie na Oddziale Diagnostyczno-Obserwacyjnym Centralnego Szpitala Klinicznego Uniwersytetu Medycznego w Łodzi, gdzie wcześniej odbywała szkolenie specjalizacyjne. Od wielu lat związana naukowo z Zakładem Medycyny Snu i Zaburzeń Metabolicznych Uniwersytetu Medycznego w Łodzi.
Stopień doktora nauk medycznych uzyskała jeszcze w trakcie studiów, jako druga osoba w historii w Polsce. Jej rozprawa doktorska, dotycząca wpływu hipoksemii na zmiany czynnika indukowanego niedotlenieniem u chorych na obturacyjny bezdech senny, została wyróżniona nagrodą Prezesa Rady Ministrów. Jest laureatką licznych prestiżowych nagród I stypendiów, w tym m.in.: Stypendium Ministra Edukacji i Nauki dla wybitnych młodych naukowców, programu START Fundacji na rzecz Nauki Polskiej, Stypendium Fundacji Kościuszkowskiej, stypendium European Psychiatric Association, nagrody European College of Neuropsychopharmacology Excellence Award oraz European Sleep Research Society Training Grant. Była również wyróżniana w konkursach „Supertalenty w Medycynie” oraz o Nagrody Naukowe tygodnika „Polityka”.
Autorka blisko 100 publikacji naukowych. W 2025 roku uzyskała stopień doktora habilitowanego. Wyniki swoich badań prezentowała na licznych konferencjach międzynarodowych. Jej działalność naukowa koncentruje się na molekularnych i neurobiologicznych mechanizmach zaburzeń snu oraz ich powiązaniach z objawami neuropsychiatrycznymi, w szczególności depresją, bezsennością i zaburzeniami rytmu okołodobowego.
Równolegle do pracy naukowej stale rozwija swoje kompetencje kliniczne, odbywając staże zagraniczne, m.in. w Klinice Zaburzeń Snu w Edynburgu, Klinice Psychiatrii i Psychoterapii we Freiburgu czy w Instytucie Neurobiologii Snu i Rytmów Okołodobowych Uniwersytetu w Oksfordzie. Regularnie uczestniczy również w licznych szkoleniach i kursach, szczególnie z zakresu medycyny snu.

Prof. Agata Gabryelska, MD, PhD graduated from the Faculty of Medicine at the Medical University of Łódź. She currently works clinically at the Diagnostic and Observation Unit of the Central Clinical Hospital of the Medical University of Łódź, where she previously completed her specialist training. For many years, she has been scientifically affiliated with the Department of Sleep Medicine and Metabolic Disorders at the Medical University of Łódź.
She obtained her PhD in medical sciences during her studies, as the second person in Poland in history to do so. Her doctoral dissertation, concerning the effect of hypoxemia on changes in hypoxia-inducible factor in patients with obstructive sleep apnea, was awarded the Prime Minister’s Prize. She is a recipient of numerous prestigious awards and scholarships, including the Minister of Education and Science Scholarship for Outstanding Young Scientists, the START programme of the Foundation for Polish Science, the Kosciuszko Foundation Scholarship, the European Psychiatric Association scholarship, the European College of Neuropsychopharmacology Excellence Award, and the European Sleep Research Society Training Grant. She has also been awarded distinctions in competitions such as “Supertalents in Medicine” and the Scientific Awards of the weekly “Polityka’’.
She is the author of nearly 100 scientific publications. In 2025, she obtained her habilitation degree. She has presented the results of her research at numerous international conferences. Her scientific work focuses on the molecular and neurobiological mechanisms of sleep disorders and their relationships with
neuropsychiatric symptoms, particularly depression, insomnia, and circadian rhythm disorders.
Alongside her scientific work, she continuously develops her clinical competencies by completing international internships, including at the Sleep Disorders Clinic in Edinburgh, the Department of Psychiatry and Psychotherapy in Freiburg, and the Institute of Sleep and Circadian Neurobiology at the University of Oxford. She also regularly participates in numerous trainings and courses, particularly in the field of sleep medicine.
